Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Classes

  • What is a Reformer Class?

Reformer classes utilise a specialised piece of equipment called the reformer, which consists of a sliding carriage, springs, and a footbar. This class focuses on controlled movements that enhance strength, flexibility, and overall body alignment. Reformer Pilates emphasises core stability while targeting various muscle groups through a variety of exercises. Suitable for all fitness levels, these classes help improve posture, balance, and muscle tone.

Unlike the common misconceptions of Pilates only being for women, Pilates was first and foremost developed for Men. Joseph Pilates created a system of exercises with the male body in mind.

How should I expect from a reformer class?

Reformer workouts can be challenging, but they are low-impact. The intensity can be adjusted based on resistance settings and exercise variations, making it suitable for everyone.

How often should I attend reformer classes?

For the best results, attending 2-3 times a week is recommended. Consistent practice will help you build strength and improve your skills.

  • What is Barre?

Barre is a low-impact, full-body workout that combines elements of ballet, yoga, and Pilates. It focuses on small, controlled movements that target specific muscle groups, helping to improve strength, flexibility, and posture. Classes typically use a ballet barre for support, along with light weights and resistance bands. Barre is suitable for all fitness levels and aims to create long, lean muscles while enhancing core strength and stability.

Do I need any prior experience?

No prior experience is necessary! Barre classes are designed for all fitness levels. Instructors will guide you through the movements and modifications.

What can I expect in a Barre class?

Classes typically begin with a warm-up, followed by a series of targeted exercises at the barre, floor work, and a cool-down stretch. Expect to feel the burn with a mix of strength training, flexibility work, and core engagement. Barre is low-impact but can be quite challenging. You’ll likely feel the burn during class, especially in your legs and core, but modifications are available for all fitness levels.

How often should I attend barre classes?

For optimal results, attending 2-3 times a week is recommended. Consistency will help improve strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

Our Dance Studio is fully equipment, including mats, weights, and resistance bands. However, you will need to bring your own water bottle and water as we do not have a water fountain at the studio just yet.
